The Saioners Hall, packed to the rafters
Resounding success for the Gala co-organized by ‘The Basket Lab’
Judoka Pau Subiranas and gymnast Jana Cullell were recognized as the top athletes from Santa Coloma this past season. Subiranas received the jury’s award after finishing the season in third place in the overall Catalan ranking, while Cullell was honored for her tenth-place finish at the Spanish Cadet Championship and for winning two bronze medals at the recent Catalan Championships. The 2nd Colomenc Sports Night also recognized Jofre Cullell, who competed in Paris in 2024 for the second time in the Olympic Games.
According to Santa Coloma de Farners’ Sports Councillor, Jordi Cullell, “the Colomenc Sports Night is a special and unique evening that acknowledges the athletes and organizations that have been linked to the city throughout the season. It’s a night to showcase their work, whether visible or behind the scenes.” In the capital of the Selva region, there are 1,150 registered athletes across various disciplines and over 300 coaches. The award for best coach of the season went to Marc Garcia, head coach of the Farners Volleyball first team.
Nearly 700 people attended the 2nd Colomenc Sports Night live. According to Cullell, it “was very well received, with highly positive feedback,” and “is becoming more established year after year.” The Gala was hosted by Marc Mundet and Georgina Triadó. Cullell highlighted the work of ‘The Basket Lab,’ calling their involvement “essential,” and emphasizing “the safety and immense confidence they bring,” noting that without the Lab’s contribution, “it wouldn’t be the same.”
